What Deficit?

An ADHD-first task app that actually starts the work for you.

I built this because every other task app I tried abandoned me at the hardest step — starting.

The problem

Every other task app expects you to be the executive function it’s supposed to provide.

You open the app. You stare at 47 untouched items. You close the app. The list grows. The shame compounds.

That cycle isn’t a willpower problem — it’s a UX problem. The task system was designed for brains that don’t need it. Yours does, and it deserves a tool built for how attention actually works.

What’s inside

Four things, done right.

No bloat. No 14-tab settings page. Just the parts that earn their keep.

Eisenhower matrix that actually works for ADHD brains.

Urgent + important. Four quadrants. No meaningless categories. The matrix only shows what’s within two days — everything else moves to the muted "Coming Up" strip so it can’t shame you.

Penny — your AI companion who knows your patterns.

She remembers what you’ve told her. She knows your good hours, your dread tasks, your Sunday-night spiral. She speaks in your tone, not a corporate one. You can rename her, retune her, or tell her to back off.

Focus timer with the right kind of nudge.

One tap to start a 25-minute block. The dock shrinks, distractions dim, and Penny doesn’t interrupt unless you asked her to. When the timer ends she asks how it went — not how much you got done.

Recurring tasks that don’t shame you when you miss one.

Miss laundry day? It moves silently to a "Missed" tab you only see if you tap into it. No red badges. No nagging. No streak counter ticking back to zero. Penny notices the pattern only if you ask her about it.

Meet Penny

She does the thinking when you can’t.

Brain-dump in. Plan out. No setup tax.

i need to do laundry, get gas, and call mom this weekend
Got it. Laundry into Q3 (delegate-or-shrink — does it have to be Saturday?). Gas + call mom into Q1 since both are quick. Want me to set a 25-min focus block for laundry?
yeah do the laundry block. and remind me about gas friday
Done — Saturday 10am, 25 min, "Sort + start a load." And gas: I’ll ping you Friday at 4pm so you catch it on the way home. Anything else weighing on you?

Pricing

One plan. No free tier. No tricks.

Questions

Things people actually ask me.

If your question isn’t here, email me — I read every one.

Is this another to-do app?

No. It’s the AI companion that ADHD brains actually need to start the work, layered on a task system that respects how attention actually works.

Will I just forget to open it like every other app?

Penny does the remembering. She nudges you at the times you’ve told her work for you, not on a fixed schedule someone else picked.

Do you store medical info?

No. I don’t ask about diagnoses, medications, or therapy. Just rhythms and what kind of nudge helps you start.

What’s the trial?

7 days, full app access, with a daily token cap on Penny so I don’t bleed cash on tire-kickers. After day 7 it’s $12/mo or you cancel.

Can I cancel?

Any time. You keep access through the end of the period you paid for. Email me for a pro-rata refund of unused days within 14 days.

Is this a real company?

Yes — Thought To Deploy LLC (Texas). I’m Robert, the founder + builder. Amee is my co-founder.

Try it for a week.

If Penny doesn’t earn her keep, cancel before day 7 and you’re not charged.
